My initial introduction to photography came in 1986, when I bought my oldest son a camera for his 13th birthday. He wanted me to teach him how to use it, so I enrolled in Photography 101 at a local Scottsdale college. From the first class, I was hooked. After completing every class offered by the college, as well as independent study, I had the opportunity to make friends with fashion photographer/teacher Frank Simon. Since that day, photography has been the passion of my life. I started in black and white film photography, and now utilize digital technology. Since I became a mother, I have been especially interested in maternity and infant subjects. Carrying an unborn child and giving birth are such wonderfully life changing events. Since I experienced pregnancy & new motherhood for myself, I have especially loved photographing other expecting couples & newborns. And it is an honor to do so. Another favorite of mine is the parent & child portraits. These images are so intimate and special. I try to capture the playfulness, the tenderness & the love of a parent and child. When photographing children, I create artistic portraits utilizing basic backgrounds and minimal props. I often use unconventional camera angles and tight crops. I don't necessarily go for a smile (especially if its fake) but instead try to capture a natural expression. I love lines, curves, contrast, simplicity, and beauty. I have been in love with photography ever since I received my first camera as a Christmas present. I would spend hours arranging my dolls and pets for what was to become my first ever photo shoots.
