As a child I was always interested in photography. It wasn't until high school that I was bitten by the photography bug. My first 35mm camera was purchased in Southeast Asia while I was serving in the Army. After being discharged from the Army, I attended Cypress College where I received my AA degree in photography. I was given my first camera by my parents when I was 9 years old; a Kodak Brownie box camera with a tattered blue ribbon for a neck strap, to take on a school trip to the San Diego Zoo. I was embarrassed to death of the thing and kept it hidden under my sweater vest. Even back then it was already very old However, the embarrassment quickly slipped away when I received the prints. I felt like I had discovered an amazing power To capture an image for all eternity.. For the next few years photography was little more than a hobby of snapshots. As a freshman at San Dieguito High School, in Encinitas, California, I began my first serious study of photography under Lucien Bonnefieux.
