Ken Schmidt graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing. He then attended the Rochester Institute of Technology where he earned his Master of Fine Arts in sculpture. Ken’s thesis work was displayed at the Rochester Museum and Science Center in Rochester New York. Ken has worked in the field of jewelry for fourteen years and was the first student to be accepted in the Illinois Jewelers Association. He is also a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, the Chicago Metal Arts Guild and the Society for Midwest Metalsmiths. While living in San Francisco, Ken worked to establish a jewelry department and taught at the non-profit organization, The Crucible.
