Wonder Woods blinds are made to order from unfinished basswood slats. Each piece is hand selected for quality. The wood we use is kiln dried, and after it arrives in our shop it dries even more in our Colorado climate. This makes the finished product less susceptible to warping and bowing. After the raw wood is cut to size the corners are rounded. Every valance is milled right in our wood shop. The blind then goes in to our stain and paint department. Many wood blind manufacturers offer a stained look, but the slats are either dipped or sprayed. The color just sits right on top of the slat. Wonder Woods blinds are hand rubbed with stain, which allows the beauty of the wood to show. Variations in the wood allow every slat to look different, and no single blind will look exactly like another. The end effect is a distt, warm, handcrafted appearance. We also take care to ensure that the rout holes are sealed, a standard feature on every one of our blinds. Assembly is done by hand rather than machine. This allows us to check for any defects in the finish, and double check controls and components. A lot of extra care goes in to the creation of a Wonder Woods blind.
